Designing a Salon/Majlis
When a client approached us for a luxurious majlis/salon design, we thought nothing screams luxury more than a combination of Neo-classical/Parisian style interior. The double height ceiling of the space gave us the perfect opportunity to create a design which would emphasize grandeur in a refined and elegant manner. The marriage between the symmetry of the Neo-classical, with the ornate architectural details of Parisian style, resulted in a space so grand, so cultured and so palatial. Let’s look at each element in detail below.
- High Ceilings with Ornate Mouldings: The ceiling features intricate plasterwork with classical motifs, crowned by a majestic, tiered crystal chandelier that instantly sets a regal tone.
- Tall Wall Panels: The walls are detailed with ornate classical paneling and delicate stucco, all painted in an ivory tone that enhances the sense of grandeur.
- Matching Sofas: Two luxurious ivory upholstered sofas face each other symmetrically, with gently curved arms and a structured silhouette—offering an elegant yet approachable feel.
- Minimalist Coffee Table: A sleek, modern wooden coffee table with a pale surface and open base shelf keeps the space airy while anchoring it centrally.
- Side Tables: Classical style round side tables complement the aesthetic, featuring elegant legs and subtle metallic details.
- Black Grand Piano: Positioned dramatically against the back wall, the piano introduces a sense of refinement and cultural sophistication—ideal for a salon-style room.
- Abstract Art: A large-scale, multi colored abstract painting with warm and cool tones (rust, mustard, blue, black, and taupe) adds a surprising, contemporary contrast to the classical background, tying the room together and injecting modern vibrance.
- Crystal Chandelier: The star of the ceiling, it cascades layers of crystal in true baroque-inspired opulence.
- Wall Sconces: Flanking the painting and positioned around the room are classic twin-arm crystal and brass sconces with candle-like bulbs—adding warm ambient light and echoing the chandelier’s elegance.
- Neutral Palette with Accents: The room’s foundation remains creamy and understated, allowing the artwork and dark piano to command attention.
- Minimal Floral Arrangement: A simple white floral centerpiece in a soft ceramic vase adds freshness without overwhelming.
- Tall Plant: Tucked into a corner, a leafy indoor plant adds organic contrast to the structured space.
- Core Style: Neo-Classical / Parisian Salon
- Twist: Modern Art & Minimalist Coffee Table
- Mood: Elegant, refined, cultured, and curated
