Art Deco making a comeback with a bang!
This concept was created for a client with a commercial residential property, who wanted a look which would make a bold statement. What could be better than creating a striking space with a strong Art Deco influence. Below is a breakdown of each element in the design.
Architectural Features
- Grand Curved Staircase: Made of white marble, the staircase is symmetrically split into two curved flights that ascend to a central landing above.
- Glass and Brass Railings: The handrails are a combination of clear glass panels framed in polished brass, adding both opulence and modern transparency.
- Arched Openings: Multiple large, symmetrical arched doorways and niches line the walls, reinforcing the Art Deco geometry and symmetry.
- Wall Details: The main wall behind the staircase is covered in a black Art Deco pattern with angular, gold-leaf-style geometric lines, making it a statement backdrop.
- Vertical fluted wall paneling and decorative moulding on other walls add classical depth and refinement.
Lighting
- Central Chandelier: A sculptural modern chandelier with multiple round opal glass globes suspended from brass arms hangs from the ceiling, anchoring the staircase space.
- Wall Sconces: Elegant, elongated brass sconces with warm golden light are evenly placed between arches, enhancing symmetry and ambiance.
Flooring
- Polished Marble Floors: The floor is done in light cream marble with gold inlays, laid in a circular and linear Art Deco-inspired motif that echoes the curve of the staircase.
Overall Style
- The space seamlessly combines Art Deco glamour — seen in the gold accents, symmetry, and geometric forms — with modern luxury, reflected in the clean lines, minimalist lighting, and glass elements.
- The color palette remains neutral but rich: ivory, cream, brass gold, black, and deep brown tones dominate, creating a timeless yet contemporary look
